2024-2025 Osteopathic Medicine Costs

Direct costs are items directly related to studies such as tuition, program fees, and general service fees. These costs are for a single year of the four-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program.

Tuition and fees are equally split between fall and spring semesters.

Indirect costs are included in your financial aid budget. These are not direct charges from the university but allowances that are given to cover expenses you may incur while attending school for the months you are enrolled each year of the program. Students are encouraged to carefully review their budgeted amounts and plan wisely to ensure all expenses are adequately covered.

Indirect costs are based on the following amounts per month, for the months enrolled:

• Living Expenses: $1,950/month (housing, food, utilities)
• Transportation: $400/month
• Personal/Miscellaneous: $350/month
• Clinical Rotation expenses: $250/month (third and fourth-year students)

Books, Supplies, Course Materials, and Equipment Allowances

Medical students are required to purchase equipment/instruments for the program. An amount of $1,000 is budgeted for the first-year cost of attendance to purchase these items, including an allowance for a PDA. Medical students are also required to purchase a laptop computer.

*An amount of $1,500 is budgeted as a one-time technology allowance for the laptop is included in the first-year cost of attendance. This allowance is in addition to a budgeted amount of $2,000 for books and other program-related materials for the first year. Actual expenses may vary.

**An amount of $140 is included in the second year cost of attendance for a background check cost.

Exam Allowances

• Second Year: The cost of the COMLEX Level 1 Exam ($715) is added to the second year fall semester cost of attendance. An allowance of $1,000 is included for board prep materials.
• Third Year: The cost of the COMLEX Level 2 Exam ($715) and $1,200 travel allowance to cover the cost for on-campus clinical skills examination in place of the COMLEX PE are added to the third year fall semester cost of attendance. An allowance of $1,000 is included for board prep materials.

Students may request consideration for an increase to their cost of attendance (if needed) to cover additional costs for residency interviews and other educationally related expenses. Please email sfs@thy111.net for a Request for Cost of Attendance Increase Form, which may be submitted along with documentation supporting the additional expenses (e.g. receipts for transportation, hotel, and ERAS fee).
