Direct Costs

Direct costs are items directly related to studies such as tuition, program fees, and general service fees. These costs are for a single year of the two-year M.S. in Physician Assistant program.

Indirect Costs

Indirect costs are included in your financial aid budget. These are not direct charges from the university, but allowances that are given to cover expenses that you may incur while attending school. The allowances listed below cover 12 months of enrollment — summer, fall, and spring semesters. Students are encouraged to carefully review their budgeted amounts and plan wisely to ensure all expenses are adequately covered.

The living expense allowances are based on the following amounts per month, for the months enrolled:

  • Living Expenses: $1,950/month (housing, food, utilities)
  • Transportation: $400/month
  • Personal/Miscellaneous: $350/month

Books, Supplies, Course Materials, and Equipment

Physician Assistant students are required to purchase books and other instructional materials for the program. These costs will vary depending on specific courses you are taking. An amount of $1,900 is budgeted for the first year of the program and $250 for the second year. Your actual expenses may vary.

Health Insurance

Students are required to enroll in UNE's Student Medical Insurance Plan unless proof of comparable insurance is demonstrated and waiver is completed online.

The cost for UNE's 2024–2025 annual health insurance policy for graduate/professional students (except first-year College of Osteopathic Medicine students) is $5,264 for the 9/01/2024–8/31/2025 coverage period. Due to a longer academic year, the health insurance rate for first-year College of Osteopathic Medicine students is $6,141 for coverage beginning on 7/1/2024–8/31/2024. 

New students whose program (M.A.T., PA, M.S.O.T.) begins in Summer 2024 are charged $1,257 for the summer coverage period of 05/22/2024–8/31/2024, and then the annual coverage rate of $5,264 (with the fall tuition billing) for coverage from 9/1/2024–8/31/2025. Students enrolled in the PSM in Ocean Food Systems Program are charged $1,257 for the summer coverage period of 5/20/2024–8/31/2025, and then the annual coverage rate of $5,264 for coverage from 9/1/2024–8/31/2025. New students should waive/enroll for the summer semester (beginning in April) and then re-enroll/waive for the following academic year, starting on July 1.
